Today I got a detention for standing up for what I believe in.

Write down 3 things you dislike about yourself

| Me: |
*sits there*
|
| Teacher: |
Ciara, why aren't you writing?
|
| Me: |
I can't do this. I will take a zero, sorry.
|
| Teacher: |
Why?
|
| Me: |
Because I refuse to promote self-hate. Because some people in the world can fill out 20 of these front and back with no blank spaces and this can trigger someone.
|
| Teacher: |
Ciara, you have to do it or I am sending you to the office.
|
| Me: |
Okay. *gets up and walks to office*

the video of the brave teacher saying that she did the “teacher thing that we’re not supposed to do: I prayed. I prayed out loud.” is going around.
I am a Christian. I have a relationship with Jesus Christ- albeit it’s not a perfect one on my end. I often put it on the back burner.
I do not like praying out loud. I prefer to pray silently- that’s just how I am. I am not a conventional pray-er either. I don’t bow my head or close my eyes.
In school, we had a moment of silence. I started noticing it after 9/11. We said the American pledge, the Texas pledge and then had a moment of silence. I swear it was really 30 seconds sometimes. Sometimes I prayed during that moment of silence and sometimes I just counted from 1 to 60.
Any one who says that there is no prayer in school is a liar. Students pray before taking a test- I did countless times. Teachers pray. Prayer is in schools. Teacher led prayer for students is the thing people are upset about.
I don’t want a teacher to lead me in prayer. People pray differently. Not even that- not every student or teacher is Christian. I would not force a Muslim to pray to Jesus.
Prayer exists and it happens in school and it will be present during disasters.
The argument of no prayer in schools is really just no forcing students to pray. To one person, praying means putting your hands together, bowing your head, closing your eyes and speaking very formally to God. To another, prayer can mean talking in your head to this guy named Jesus and speaking like one would to a friend- no formalities.

Pro-Life people are so annoying…

I hate the way they preach equal rights for all human beings and respect the right to life and think babies are better off in loving adoptive homes instead of dead and the way they help mothers not make the worst decision of their life that they may live to regret every day.
GOD don’t you just hate that?
I hate the way they want to take away a basic reproductive right that all women* should have access to.
I hate the way they’re giving extra rights to a fetus to use someone else’s body against their will.
I hate the way they shame women* for having abortions.
I hate the way they manipulate emotion to get their shitty point across.
I hate the way they use inaccurate propaganda to make a point.
I hate the way they want to force women* to remain pregnant, even though that’s cruel and insensitive.
I hate the way they assume every person who has an abortion will regret it. (Newsflash: a lot of women* don’t regret it).
My goodness, don’t you just hate that?

Look at this leech trying to live off my body. How did this happen to me…..oh yeah. I made the choice to have sex. That is how this happened to me. A baby shouldn’t be a punishment. Well a fetus shouldnt be punished for your sexual escapades. Oh wait I forgot. They have no rights…
OKAY. I am sick and tired of this argument.
“Pregnancy is a consequence of sex. You have to stay pregnant because you had sex!” Even if you might have complications that lead to death of the mother or the fetus or you can’t afford a pregnancy that can cost at least 10,000.00.
OH no. You smoked cigarettes and now you have cancer. You have to keep your cancer- no chemo for you! Even if it possibly( alright, definitely) ends in death.
OH no. You have a certain gene that causes a deadly breast cancer. You have to keep your breasts! Even if you die! (Ahem: haters of Angelina Jolie)
OH no. You went into a lake with leeches. You have to live with those leeches on your body sucking your blood! Even if it possibly ends in death.
OH no. You walked in a shady neighborhood and got shot. You don’t get medical help. Even if that means you might die.
I’m sure there are many more situations like these- feel free to add them.
There are lots of cause and effect situations that can possibly lead to death if not dealt with but pregnancy seems to be the only one where the accepted solution is to just avoid the cause rather than treat the effect.
Pregnancy is not ponies and daisies and unicorns. Sometimes it goes great but most times pregnant women are miserable. And employers aren’t always kind to pregnant women.
The real problem people have is about sex. Women are having sex and that is terrifying some people.
None of what you said was even relevant to my comment…..good job?
None of what I said was relevant? Wanna reread what I responded to?

You implied that a fetus shouldn’t be aborted for the sole reason that a woman had sex and got pregnant or really because of their “sexual escapades”.
And I say and said that that is the same thing as saying that leeches shouldn’t be removed because you walked into leech filled water- you knew it was a possibility.
That is the same thing as telling someone who got lung cancer from smoking that they shouldn’t get chemo because they knew smoking caused cancer.
Just a bunch of random analogies that have zero to do with the facts. Try again
I’m sorry that you can only feel for the unborn and not the women who have to change their lives for them.
I’m sorry that you can’t seem to understand the FACTS about women who are forced to stay pregnant who are unhappy, who may attempt illegal abortions, who may die during childbirth all because people like you want to force them to become incubators to children they don’t want.
ALSO: Abortion isn’t just for women who don’t want children- it’s also for women who had a wanted fetus in their womb that died but did not spontaneous abort.
Im sorry that your unborn child is going to be such an inconvenience to your selfish me me me life that you feel the only option is murder.
You know nothing about me or how I will raise my children if I have children.
but the definition of abortion is
a·bor·tion
/əˈbôrSHən/
Noun
- The deliberate termination of a human pregnancy.
- A miscarriage.

I saw this post among the slew of comments on this Planned Parenthood post regarding the decision on the after 20-week abortions ban in Arizona.
It was nice to see a conservative man standing up to the anti-choice bullies on the page. Of course the comments from all the women are equally amazing but I guess it’s so rare to see such a comment from a conservative male.
